Native Agroforesty on a Farm we collaborate with and support on Dharawal Country
Orchard Resilience
Native Foodways is the national First Nations partner on the Orchard Resilience Project. This project focuses on supporting Australian perennial horticulture growers to build soil health and climate resilience.
Over the next three years, alonside Soils for Life, we will be working with regional partners to support and build the capacity of Australian growers to farm as regeneratively as possible by integrating Indigenous knowledges and collaborating with First Nations communities. The project will support the adoption of practices that build soil health and climate resilience, such as:
- Promotion of native biodiversity
- Interrow cover cropping
- Agroecological integrated pest management
- Composts, biofertilisers & biostimulants
- Pollinator-friendly practices
- Irrigation & soil moisture management
- Enterprise diversification and integrating grazing
- Soil, crop & ecosystem monitoring
